Nevertheless, the 60-90% supply of the ivory in Africa inflows into China, the largest consuming country in the world, via Hong-Kong or other countries.

So, giving ivory as a gift has become very popular. It is a problem that it's not easy to cut elephant's ivory, so ivory poachers kill elephants to gain that. According to NGO reports, if poaching is being continued like now, 20 percent of African elephants must be gone within 10 years.
