Awards from Many Countries to Mr. Man Hee Lee, the Peace Advocate

     "Peace" is a word that makes our hearts warm. That is why I like the word "peace", and I am reading a lot of books about that topic. But peace is such an abstract concept that we often don't know how to achieve it, although we hope there will be peace in this world.

Recently, I learned from an internet news that there is someone who has a secret material to achieve peace in this world. The article was about the president of Heavenly Culture, world Peace, Restoration of Light, Mr. Man-hee Lee, who enthusiastically travels around the world to bring peace to this world.

     He put an end to the religious war in Mindanao, Philippines between Islam and Catholic that they had killed each other for 40 years. Being just a representative of an organization, he persuaded them to sign for the peace agreement between them. Moreover, the government of Guatemala gave him a note of appreciation and an opportunity to put a rose on the sculpture of Palm of Peace.

     It was kind of surprising because he was just a man who is in charge of a group and he doesn’t look so young. It could not be easy to travel in his age. He looked like he has to do this task and have so much confident about this.

Before I could express my feeling of wonder, I got heard another news regarding him which is visiting Veracruz in Mexico. He awarded the note of appreciation and a medal from the government of Veracruz.

     Mexico is located next to the United States and well known for its beautiful landscapes and rich culture. That’s why I thought it could be a wonderful place to live. However, it was not as safe as I thought. There are problems of public security, drugs, traffic jam, and even the earthquakes. Looks like it’s too much far from peace.

     Even though Mexico may seem a place where peace is nowhere to be found, however, peace is starting to become a reality in small corners. The Peace Seminar and Ceremony of Peace Agreement held in Mexico, and the note of appreciation given to Mr. Man Hee Lee are the proof.

     On 20th of last month, at 3 p.m. Mr. Man Hee Lee, the president of Heavenly Culture and World Peace and Restoration of Light, was given a note of appreciation and a medal by Mayor of Veracruz. Many politicians, high ranking officials, and religious leaders attended the awarding ceremony and gave Mr. Lee an enormous applauds.

     As he was awarding Mr. Lee, the mayor of Veracruz thanked Mr. Lee for his efforts said that they saw a light of hope for peace. Religious leaders also said that his message of peace gave great hope to Veracruz and Mexico suffering from prevalence of crime. What they felt when they listened to Mr. Lee's message of peace must be same as my aspiration for hope.

     The news of peace must have been like the soft rain and wind in a hot summer as they have been thirsty for peace. It is said that Mr. Lee decided to visit Mexico after he met a Mexican Pastor in Uruguay this March. The Peace Walk held in Tijuana, Mexico by Mr. Lee and Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light is the reason he decided to do so. The Peace Walk was a big event that brought a lot of youths and citizens together, so Mexican people would have wanted to feel that joy again.

     Of course, Mr. Lee's message of peace wouldn't have touched the hearts of the world from the beginning. But he persistently kept on with his efforts for peace so the world started to remember and cheer for him. Now, as his message rekindles people's desire for hope, it is creating a boom all around the world. Just like Mr. Lee's words that this kind of work of peace cannot be done by men, it seems like the God in heaven is with him to achieve world peace.

     Many leaders in the world work hard for world peace but there are still more wars than peace. For myself, Mr. Lee showed that there is hope of accomplishing peace on this world and he is the first one to do so. I anticipate eagerly to see his next move for peace, and to hear what inspiring message he will give.

Carnival is one of international celebrations well known for its colorful and passionate images. It is annually held in lots of places in Europa, and South America from the end of Feb. to the beginning of Mar.

When did Carnival start and how has it been handed down until now?

Carnival originated from the word ‘carne vale’ or ‘carnem levare’ means ‘having no meat’ in Latin. In the Rome era, Rome recognized a Christians’ celebration called Saturnalia officially to conciliate them, and it caused Carnival which people enjoy lots of meat and have fun before period of Lent; Saturnalia also caused the Christmas in Europa area.

Have you ever joined in the celebration? If not, do you want to join one of them? You might have a picture of splendid lights and streets, parades and colorful costumes with Samba music when you think of the carnival celebration. I guess all people in the world have desire to go far from the places where they belong, escape from the realities and have some wonderful and crazy experiences like me.

It is also one of the biggest events in Mexico where I am interested in. The festivals are held many cities here and there. Among them, I found Veracruz’s festival is famous in terms of its scale.

The queen of 2014 Veracruz Carnival is MARISOL ÁGUILA GÓME.Veracruz Gov. Look at her!

Javier Duarte de Ochoa and his wife KarimeMacías Tubilla crowned her as the carnival queen. The crowning ceremony was held where Veracruz Tourism and Culture Secretary Harry Grappa Guzmán and Veracruz Mayor Ramón Poo Gil also attended.

I would say the carnival queen is the flower of the whole festival. And I think she looks perfect on her parade costume.

There is the other interesting news as the carnival celebration is. It is the news of a peace advocate, Mr. Man hee lee who claims for world peace. He has been awarded the note of appreciation and a medal from Veracruz mayor Ramón Poo Gil. 

Actually, he is traveling every corner of the earth to meet the presidents, formal presidents and celebrities sharing his idea of peace and ask them to work together for ceasing war and making world peace. He is also holding many conferences and making speeches to different kinds of religious leaders and politicians. And almost everyone loves his idea and promises to work with him by signing the peace agreements.

He said he will be holding the peace summit in this coming September in South Korea. Many of celebrities, and reporters promised to come to Korea. And I think it is going to be great festival ever.

I think Mr. Lee’s idea of peace is so innovative that all the people’s wish that is peace can come true this time. It will be possible to have peace and no war in this world. That’s why I believe the summit will be so amazing, and the place where people gather will be like a true festival.

I definitely want to go to the summit where the news of peace will be proclaim and I want many people around the world come to Korea to enjoy the fascinate event.

Veracruz in Mexico Awarded Note of Appreciation and Medal to Mr. Man Hee Lee, the Peace Activity

Are you aware of the meaning of the national flag of Mexico? There is the birth myth of the nation hidden in its flag which is important but the three colors in the flag – green, white, and red are telling you its history well. So you can understand Mexican history if you understand the flag thoroughly.

Each color has its own meanings. Green refers to independence and hope, white refers to purity and unification of religion, and red means the sacrifice for independence and integration among different races who are the White, Indio and mestizo. These words, unity, independence, unification and sacrifice, are familiar to me as a Korean since Korea has gone through the time of colony like Mexico. Sadly, Mexican were ruled for about 5 times longer than my country. I could imagine how much they long for peace.

The port city, Veracruz, has close connection with the Mexican history. The name of this city which is one of the biggest port cities in Mexico is familiar for me since there is a car called Veracruz made in a Korean company. That car is named after this city. But the original meaning of it is “the true cross” in Spanish anyway. And historically, it was the first place for Spanish ship to land Mexico to conquer it. So Veracruz holds the sad histories of this country.

Although it has tragic history, the sceneries in the city look so amazing. There are lots of sea sides including Villa del Mar and Fort San Juan de Ulua.

This beautiful city has got an amazing news recently.  

The carrier of the news was Mr. Man-Hee Lee, president of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light.

April 20th 2014, at 3 p.m in a palace in Veracruz, Mexico, the mayor of Veracruz, Mexican politicians and religious leaders had gathered and gave award to Mr. Man Hee Lee regarding his effort for peace. More than 15 major press were there to interview him. Mr. Lee said, "I strongly believe that peace and blessing will be around us in this world soon. He also said that to accomplish world peace, the leaders and people of all nations must work together in their positions, with humble and honest minds. His message of peace touched the people of Veracuz and Mexico, like tender rain.

He also emphasized that we should be able to have peace in our hearts so that there are no longer pain and suffering. He always looks confident whenever he mentions about peace. It looks like it must happen soon. The Mexicans would have thought of their painful history as they listened to the message. They also said they believe this message will deliver to Koreans as well.

Being traveling so much, he is delivering the message of peace throughout every corner around the world, and It's not easy to anticipate Mr. Lee's next stop. I am excited to hear where he will deliver another news of peace to the world the next time.

I thought this movie, ‘The Big Picture’, would be interesting to watch because it is regarding to both comfort women and peace. How could anyone combine these two words? 

It stimulated my curiosity.

Some Japanese illustrators suggested to gather Korean, Chinese and Japanese illustrators and to publish a picture book regarding PEACE. It was because they had perception that peace can be achieved only if all the countries take part in, not just a country. Among them, an illustrator Yundeok Kwon took comfort women as its motif for peace.

The word ‘comfort women’ shows how horrendous it was, and how cruel the war was. It came from the concept that women could be brought to serve soldiers under the war and from the false belief that it would bring about good results in the war. However, the fact that ‘good results’ refer to killing someone is there for all to see. In this situation women had to follow the wherever the war took place. They had to go over the dead in the battlefields and again used to make the army move. They had no rights to be human beings but just to be sexual tools for men. How cruel it is. There were no human beings in the battlefield.

The history of comfort women shows one of cruel sides of the war. However, it has been not shown as it is. it used to be used as a political term. Japan supported Korea in 1980s. In return, it wanted to clear away the remnants of its colonialism. And the money went straight to the Korean government to develop and the women were not compensated anything

There is one more reason the women were ostracized. This problem showed the shameful history of Korea which is the history ruled by Japan. The moments that the people who did not have any choices but obeyed the Japanese laws, the reality that people who shared same blood should suppress each other, the people who had to join the other country’s army and left for war against their will.

We should remember that the remnants should not be meant everything cleaned up. Paying some money back should not be meant it is clearly finished the fact they slaughtered Korean indiscriminately. However, unfortunately, they do so in the name of law at that time

The war is so legal. It is so legal that the war can occur easily. People who are conservatism want to keep themselves, so the last solution they can make would be breaking out war. They will not allow the opponents to have power and the will cause war with their very legal laws.

Koreans have used this matter as a political issue. They have usually appealed their offensive feeling about it and inspired patriotism themselves. That is one of the things what Japan wants. It can bring war which means, those dividing ideas between Japan and Korea can cause a war.

This movie is giving you a difficult message in this matter. Since peace is opposite side of war, the war must be stopped. Ms. Sim, she is telling you the wars should never happen again. She knows how horrible situations a war brings. Having peace seems to be getting difficult as Japan seeks for the conservatism. It looks like there are no solutions. What can we do?

I would say that the only thing we can do is to remember and act according to what we have realized, which is the cruel and horrible memories that the war has brought us. I’ve learned it from the illustrator Yundeok Kwon who told that Korean soldiers had committed the same things; having ‘comport women’ in the Vietnam War in her book. She pointed out that it was not each individual person who should have been blamed but the war. And she tells about peace.

In that reason, I think the ‘The Big Picture’ should be published in Japan. The message of peace the illustrator is talking about starts from remembering the history. She doesn’t want her book causes the political issues since she didn’t draw it by focusing on the view of patriotism at all. Japanese students said they didn’t know about the comport women with confident voices. They said they have never heard of that. They don’t know how cruel a war can be. They don’t know their family and beloved people had to die because of war. They don’t know the sad stories someone lost his whole family members at once. They even know nothing about the women who were dragged to a strange land and played around by the soldiers just like dolls. They don’t know anything what horrible results the war will bring to them. That’s why the book must be published in Japan to instill the mind of peace to them by letting them know the history.

This book shows you how a person can die so easily in the name of war. Of course, the Japanese conservatism has problems and need to be changed somehow, but this book does not tell you to fight against it. It shows the problems of wars and tells you not to cause the cruel wars again and make the world peacefully.  

It’s not easy to do so. We need to make an effort to make it. We should know the history of war ourselves and let our neighbors know it. Let’s know, remember, and try to keep the peace. Those are the purposes of this book.

What would you do if a war breaks out in your country?

Do you live in a place which has tent conflicts? Or, are you in a place where people worry about riots all the time because of some unstable political situations? Have your communities been suffering for religious problems for long time? If not, do you live in a divided country like me?

 

There have been lot's of conflicts and wars around the world and it seems that people are concerning where they should escape when a war occurs. I searched Internet about wars and I found that the key word, 'The safest place when a war breaks out?' is the most popular.

I clicked it with curiosity.

 

By the way, where do You think the safest place is?

 

Going out abroad, finding a shelter, staying at home is the best answer, and so on. There were different opinions. But I think no one knows about it because a war can happen anywhere and the effects of weapons such as nuclear, chemical and biological weapons are huge so they may clear the whole people in the world.

Then what could be the best way to avoid wars?

 

What about figuring out the ways not to cause a war instead of finding shelters?

 

Those natural disasters such as tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions are beyond the human power. People have no choice but just try to protect their homes from them. However, causing wars is different from those of natural disasters. Because it was started from human, it can be ended by will of human. A war makes people die and have serious problems in many ways. Should we keep doing these kind of crucial behavior? In this reason, I think we, all people need to seek the ways to make the peaceful world. Handing down the world without wars to our descendants would be our obligation.

 

You might think that, 'easy to say, difficult to achieve in reality. Some people believe it's impossible to have complete peace with ceasing wars. They are not sure about it. However, there is a person claim that the peace must come and he has the answers to make it. He is Mr. Man hee Lee, a peace advocate.

 

I found a wonderful reports from world news. Do you know Mindanao in the Philippines? The conflicts between Islamist and Catholicism used to be there, People in there were always scared of guns and fights. Many of peace activities visited there to solve the problem but it was hard to achieve it. Mr. Man Hee Lee , however, visited there without any weapons but only messages of peace. He gave his speech to them, and made two representatives who are leaders of islam and catholic churches sign for the Peace Agreement.

 

Also, last month, he traveled to meet the presidents, former presidents, political leaders and hold peace conferences and seminars to ask them to join his campaign and make peace in the world together. Futhermore, he had visited Guatemala and laid a rose on the Palm of Peace with awarding appreciation plaque.

 

The peace advocate Man Hee Lee says about himself that he does not have a high level of education, and he is not just traveling around the world for fun or due to having lots of money. The reason why hi is doing is just for peace and he is sure we can have peaceful world by doing so. And he also claims that all the people in the world should be peace leaders who wish for peace.

 

There is a saying 'every little helps'. You can achieve big things when the tiny things are gathered. I hope that you have the mind of peace and stay in the belief that peace will come true.

 

If each person has the same mind of peace transcending race, county and religion, each an every place and country can be a peaceful place.

To Save a Million Is a God-Given Opportunity - Audrey Hepburn & UNICEF

 

“To save a child is a blessing: to save a million is a God-given opportunity.”

This is one of the famous sayings of Audrey Hepburn and hit the headlines across all the newspaper of the world, and even became an inspiration for the global culture of donation. Audrey Hepburn, she carried out various activities for UNICEF even in her later years when her health had worsened. How was she related to UNICEF?

 

Audrey Hepburn was born in Brussels, Belgium. Her original family name was Ruston, but she got family name as 'Hepburn' because her father changed his first and last name a lot for his instability. After she became 6 years old, her mother and she had a wandering life in Netherlands and England apart from her father. Her family was not that poor in her childhood thanks to her mother's side and her mother's ability to support. However, their fortune began to ebb as Europe fell under the influence of the Nazis. At the time of the World War II, their poverty reached a boiling point, and Audrey Hepburn starved near to death. While this was happening, it was just United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (hereafter UNICEF) that helped and saved her. This memory became the reason why she had actively carried out lots of activities for UNICEF.

 

She became a star overnight with a movie, ‘Roman Holiday’, though, she lived a reclusive life after her two unhappy marriages. However, she realized the fact that her reputation would help to raise a charity fund and started to join in UNICEF activities voluntarily.

 

She had taken full advantage of her reputation and popularity to raise fund for the relief activities, but she had never behaved herself as a star during serving activities. As a mother with two adorable children, she loved every child and felt deeply sad for dying children.

 

If UNICEF went she followed them no matter where it was the wild, battlefield, or the infected areas even at age 60. She set to work with great eagerness as a goodwill ambassador of UNICEF and did not care the money though UNICEF only gave her a dollar a year except the travel budget and the room charge. Even she was not given her own office. Her passionful relief activities were saving many lives while her own health got worse. Under too tight schedule, not considering her age, sadness and emotional shock from the scene made her health deteriorated. Just before her visit to Somalia in September 1992 she had gotten some warning signals with her health. After coming back, she had to take some painkillers in order to deal well with many interviews and events to raise relief fund. Finally, she finished the work November 1992 and she was diagnosed with rectal cancer in an LA hospital. She had a surgery but the result of it was not good.

 

Only three months were allowed for the rest of her life. Further treatment became meaningless for her. After retiring, she came back to her hometown in Switzerland and spent the rest of her life with her family. At her last Christmas, she read her favorite poetry to her offsprings as if it was her last will.

    

"...Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others."

 

In January 1993 when she was 63 years old, Audrey Hepburn breathed her last as her family and her soul mate Robert Wolders looked on. She was laid in a knoll from which she might be able to look down her house in Switzerland, and people all over the world including her colleagues mourned over her death. Audrey Hepburn's passionate and sincere relief activities were carried on by giving 'Audrey Hepburn Peace Award' which UNICEF and Global Vision for Peace established.

Last year, the news of Nelson Mandela's death brought the world in sorrow. He was a symbol of peace by working for the rights of black people and win the Nobel Peace Prize. Also, he was a wonderful leader who showed how great work people can do with extending forgiveness and reconciliation.

 

Across the discrimination, he fought for the harmony of black and white people and human rights. He went through hard time in his whole life for them and achieved his fame as a real practical leader.

 

There used to be serious discriminations in South Africa where lots of different kinds of people lived in. Black people used to be treated as slaves; they could not enter the public places of White's, and they were not allowed to get married to White's, and even got prohibited from getting in buses with them.

 

Although they treated the black people like that, Nelson Mandela forgave them with love when he met the political leaders who were Whites apologizing deeply what they had done to his people.

 

In July, 1991 he finally ceased the racial conflicts which his people had longed for for about 350 years by negotiating with the white people's government. And now he is regarded as one of the greatest peace activitists who had dedicated for peace in not only his country but also in the whole world.

Likewise, there is a person who has dedicated his entire life to make peaceful world; the representative Man-Hee Lee. He is working so hard traveling around the world, meeting important people in his 80s age. His hope is simple. That is to hand over peace to the descendants as a inheritance.

 

However, some people seem to dislike what he is doing. Some make up stories and gossip about him so that he is not able to make it.

 

In the mean time, Mr. Man-hee Lee is trying to meet people and talk about his ideas about peace. And people who meet him agree his ideas and are willing to participate in his group. He is also embracing the people who have critical thoughts about him with extending forgiveness and love.

 

His speech is powerful enough to get people touched. He claims that the whole nations and people need to be one in order to achieve peace; being one can make the end of wars. He is sure that we can make it.

Representative Man-Hee Lee has also been holding the events of Peace Walk around the world starting from South Korea with many youth organizations from abroad; this became famous and several youth groups in the world proposed to join and worked together.

 

It seems that the two peace advocates have in common. First, they have the strong will to make peace no matter what conditions they have. Secondly, they have the mind of love and forgiveness to embrace the people even if they did something bad to them. Lastly, like Nelson Mandela, Mr. Lee is achieving "Actual Peace" as he actually acts for it.

There are two different people who think his example in the conflict, and conflict is not peace of mind look beneficial. 

As world peace, I suppose. I think all the people of the world with this one if you do not have another war that's gonna happen. 

Peace and love for all people in the world, 

if one bears Would not achieved world peace? 

I think the only people in the world were to awaken to achieve world peace is he a minute. Representative Man-hee Lee just be lovely.

By looking at news these days, "the country can not do this, Cheap'm not supposed to." 

Okay, say bad things, but the lack of fixed reality practice power's out. 

Moreover, peace in the world ... 

By the way! News from the world of peace is made, "the news is not good anymore rarely long time." I've heard the idea.

Representative Man-hee Lee was eager for peace in the world than anyone else beats revelation of God's will for peace, 

yet are you working for peace in the world would do.

 yet not proud of itself represents. 

I want to be really present.

People do not like peace making up false words to interfere with a time of persecution, but a representative of Man-hee Lee  without even time to worry about such a thing busy with moving and love for world peace, 

I think ttwisi wonderful minutes. 

Man-hee Lee all peace-loving people and want to meet with a representative to learn to achieve world peace and'm sleeping. 

God has promised you peace, and your God will be with you Do you represent Man-hee Lee and pray for world peace together with the idea 

that I'm proud and grateful to spend the days. 

Just a regular office worker for peace in the world when and how can I do this?

In the mind of a person who wishes for peace go so soon
