Beautiful and Peaceful Guatemala!
What country do you think Guatemala is? Let me talk about it.
I've often heard of this country's name but didn't know well about its culture and history. Being interested in it these days, I
started to search for it.
Most of Guatemalan are Catholics but they have freedom of
religion. Many natives have a unique religion mixed with Christianity and
Maya's folk beliefs.
In case of Catholic Church, it sometimes exercises political
leverage as participating in the peace negotiation between the past government
and the guerrilla. But these days, the number of Protestants tend to increase
rapidly.
Watching the glittering traditional costumes is so interesting.
They have handed down before the colonial era; it looks like their own culture
from their ancestors captured in it.
And the Middle America is well known as its exciting dances.
Guatemalan also love dance and they just dance whenever there is music on. I
found that they dance not only at bars, but on the streets, in the buses, at
home as well.
Wow! I would like to
see with my eyes!!
In addition, it could be nice to travel there if you are stick to
arts since there are bunch of art exhibitions holing every season.
The main foods in this country are chicken, beef, rice, corn, and
potatoes. The most famous dish that even Korean know is tortilla, and Frijoles
which is kind of thin porridge made of red beans is also famous too.
Conventional Indio festival Lavin Ahau starts from 21-26 June,
which is a tourist attraction for the people who want to make special memories
for summer vacation.
Surfing around the Internet here and there, I found an
interesting article.
The peace activity Man Hee Lee made a floral tribute in a palace
of Guatemala. It is surprising since this chances are only given to whom put a
lot of effort for peace; not any celebrities who visit there are not allowed to
do so.
As Korean, the UN secretary general Ban Gi Mun made a floral
tribute for the first time and Mr. Man Hee Lee is the second. That's why it is
so special. I've heard Mr. Lee hosted a peace agreement in Mindanao Island in
Philippines last time. I guess he brings peace many places around the world.
I wish this peace would be delivered to my country so that
everybody who was in a sorrow with the recent sad news would get healed and
comforted soon.
